LORD, HOW DO WE PRAY?

The situation in Yemen appears hopeless and our brothers and sisters in Christ are sheep among vicious wolves. Let us persevere in asking our Heavenly Father for these requests, according to His will.

As you read the prayers below, join in prayer in your spirit with the many who are also praying these prayers. May our prayers rise as a sweet aroma before God Almighty.

Pray for our Yemeni brothers and sisters, that they would drink from the River of living water within them so that they might minister to those around them according to Ezekiel 47:12.

"Spirit of the Living God, fill our brothers and sisters to the fullest with your presence so that they might be ready and able to meet every need of those around them and thereby glorify your name in Yemen. May they know their own weakness and emptiness so that they would rely fully on Your strength, Your grace and Your presence in all things."

Pray for the wisdom and salvation of leaders and all those who are in authority, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

"Lord of hosts, I pray for the governments and military leaders engaged in the war, that you would cause them to avoid targeting or fighting in civilian areas. Protect innocent people from airstrikes, landmines, crossfire and false accusations and imprisonment from the warring parties."

Pray for the children of Yemen according to Luke 18:15-17.

"Father in heaven, we praise you because you are a father to orphan, and you open your arms wide to receive children into your loving embrace. Please pour out your love, protection and life on the millions of Yemeni children who are in danger of dying from disease and starvation. Your kingdom is a place of perfect peace, comfort, provision and love, so we ask that your kingdom would come in the lives of these children. Look upon them with compassion and rescue them from their misery and the hopelessness of their future. Give them food and clean water so that their bodies and minds might begin to heal and even thrive. Forgive the sins of the land so that healing and restoration might come to this generation! These children have already experienced so much evil in their short lives, so we ask that you would protect them from further harm in their bodies and minds. Show your goodness in the land of the living!"

Pray for the spiritual focus and material provision of our brothers and sisters according to Matthew 6:25-34.

"Gracious Provider, I ask that you would provide for the financial needs of our brothers and sisters in Yemen. I pray that they would have hearts that seek first the kingdom of God and your righteousness. Then I ask that you would prove yourself faithful by providing everything that they need. May their faith increase as they observe your miraculous provision in their lives."

Pray for our brothers and sisters to reflect God's image in their work according to Matthew 5:13-16.

"God who holds our hearts in your hands, give vision and capacity to believers in Yemen to meet the physical needs of people in their communities throughout the continuing crisis. Fill their hearts with compassion, their minds with creativity and their hands with strength."

Pray for our brothers and sisters to persevere according to Hebrews 12:1-3.

"LORD, our refuge, I pray for our many brothers and sisters who are experiencing daily persecution. Help them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and remember the suffering and persecution he endured on their behalf. Give them a vision of the glory that is awaiting them and provide encouragement for them through the powerful testimony of other brothers and sisters around the world who have endured, conquered and received a crown a glory."

Pray for Christian marriages and families to be established and strengthened for the glory of God and peace of the believers according to Ephesians 5:22 - 6:4.

"Father, I pray for our brothers and sisters in Yemen who would like to marry a believing spouse but cannot. Protect them from dangerous, unequal marriages and provide them with everything they need so that they can begin families built on the foundation of Christ. I pray for those few Christian families to be strengthened and encouraged as they seek to submit to Christ in their homes. Fill them with a deep and unconditional love for one another. And we pray for the salvation of the children who are growing up with Christian parents. May they know that Christ is the way, the truth and the life!"

Pray for the Yemeni refugees and migrants to find peace and comfort from the Church in their new host nations according to Exodus 23:9.

"Ruler of the nations, I pray for the millions of Yemenis dispersed throughout places like Malaysia, Djibouti, Korea, America, Egypt and others. I pray that these refugees and migrants would find peace, rest and provision. I pray that your Church in these countries would rise up to minister the love and word of Christ boldly to them."

Pray for isolated believers or those who are afraid to meet with other believers to become connected to the larger Yemeni body of Christ according to Hebrews 10:24-25.

"O God who sees, I pray for the many isolated and fearful believers who are scattered across Yemen. We ask that you would provide divine appointments for them to meet with other believers so that your Church in Yemen might continue to unite and be strengthened."

Pray for the strengthening, protection and release of those in prison according to Hebrews 13:3.

"Our great Savior, I pray for those in prison. Execute justice on their behalf and release any who have been wrongfully accused or detained. We pray that you would protect your children from harm and that the Gospel would spread unhindered even in the midst of bondage and chains."
